Riyadh Air, the airline based in Saudi Arabia, has announced its entry into the Indian market. The carrier said it will begin a daily direct flight connecting Mumbai and Riyadh from August 4. What makes the move significant is that this will be Riyadh Air's very first service in India, promising to make air travel between the two countries far smoother. Bookings on the route have already opened on July 6, which means travellers can lock in their seats right away.
Flights To Be Operated by Boeing B787-9
The daily service between Mumbai and Riyadh will be operated using Boeing's B787-9 aircraft. Passengers on board will get four distinct travel classes, namely Business Elite, Business, Premium Economy and Economy. According to the company, the Mumbai route reflects how seriously it views India, one of the largest and fastest growing aviation markets in the world. Riyadh Air is confident that the flight will serve business and leisure travellers alike, while also meeting the needs of the migrant communities that regularly move between the two countries.
Why the CEO Calls the Route Special
Riyadh Air's Chief Executive Officer, Tony Douglas, said on the occasion, "India has emerged as one of the fastest growing aviation markets at the global level. We are therefore delighted to offer travellers a new premium option with better global connectivity from Mumbai to Riyadh and onward to Europe."
Airline Took Off in March 2023
The airline said that with this new route, its network has now grown to 9 destinations. The company believes this will accelerate its plan to strengthen connectivity between Saudi Arabia and major international and regional hubs. Launched in March 2023, Riyadh Air is aiming to expand its flight network to more than 100 destinations across the world by 2030.
Cities the Airline Currently Serves
At present, the Saudi carrier runs daily flights to several key cities. These include London and Manchester in the United Kingdom, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Cairo the capital of Egypt, and Madrid the capital of Spain. Mumbai will now join this list, giving travellers moving between India and the Gulf one more dependable option for their journeys.
