A major skill development initiative has been rolled out for unemployed youth in the Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh to help them gain practical workplace experience. Under the PM Internship Scheme and PM Apprentice Campaign, young individuals will receive hands-on professional training at various industrial firms for a duration of one year. Along with acquiring modern technical skills, trainees will receive a fixed monthly stipend throughout their training period, helping them build employment readiness and overcome job-market challenges.
Eligibility Criteria and Age Limits
The training initiative is open to both male and female candidates aged between 18 and 40 years. Managed through local Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Amethi, the programs aim to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and industrial requirements. Partner companies will onboard the selected candidates for a full year, training them across different operational functions. Trainees will gain direct exposure to real-world business challenges, corporate practices, and technical workflows to strengthen their overall professional profile.
Stipend Structure and Financial Support
A key highlight of these programs is the continuous financial compensation offered during the learning period. Candidates selected under the PM Internship Scheme will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 7,000, bringing the total financial assistance to Rs 84,000 over the course of one year. Meanwhile, participants enrolled in the PM Apprentice Campaign will be provided a monthly allowance of Rs 9,600 for the entire twelve-month duration. This stipend ensures financial independence while candidates focus on acquiring valuable skill sets.
Selection Basis and Application Process
Officer in Charge M.P. Singh stated that the schemes represent a significant opportunity for young job seekers to enhance their capabilities and secure better career prospects. He highlighted that many eligible candidates miss out on such welfare programs due to a lack of timely information. To address this issue, an extensive awareness drive is being conducted to inform the public and maximize participation. Opportunities will be allocated strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
