The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated preparations for the Class 10 and 12 practical examinations for the 2026-27 academic session. The board has officially released the schedule for practical examinations, project assessments, and internal assessments specifically for winter-bound schools, outlining a strict framework that institutions must follow.
Exam Window Set from November 9 to December 19
According to the announced timeline, the practical exams and assessments for winter-bound schools will be conducted between November 9 and December 19, 2026. Schools falling under this category must wrap up all evaluation procedures within this stipulated timeframe. The board clarified that these directives apply exclusively to winter-bound institutions, and a separate circular will be issued later for schools operating under the normal academic session, meaning regular schools should not treat these dates as their final schedule.
Mandatory LOC Verification for All Participating Students
Institutions have been instructed to thoroughly verify student details before the practicals begin. Only those candidates whose names have been successfully submitted to the board through the online List of Candidates (LOC) will be permitted to take part in the practical exams, project assessments, and internal assessments. Schools must cross-check records to ensure no unlisted student is allowed into the examination hall, making it advisable for students to confirm their enrollment status directly with their respective administrations.
Single Assessment Rule for Class 10 Students
The board has also addressed the framework for internal assessments in Class 10. The internal assessment for these students will be conducted only once. Schools are tasked with completing the evaluation of all enrolled candidates within the designated deadline and uploading the corresponding marks to the official board portal without any omissions or delays.
Multiple Sessions Required for Batches Exceeding 30 Students
To manage larger groups effectively, specific directives have been laid out regarding session planning. If the number of students taking a particular subject exceeds 30, the school must divide them and conduct the practical exam across two or three separate sessions. The exact number of sessions will depend on the laboratory capacity and available infrastructure of the individual school, ensuring a smooth and manageable testing environment.
Additionally, uploading group photographs has been made mandatory for every batch participating in the practical examinations. The board will provide a dedicated app link through which schools must upload the group pictures of each exam batch. This requirement aims to maintain proper documentation and transparency throughout the entire assessment cycle.
