The Long Journey from Punjab to an Ireland Debut
Simi Singh was born in Punjab and made the life-changing move to Ireland in 2006 at just 19 years of age, carrying the singular ambition of playing international cricket. However, achieving that dream demanded immense resilience and patience, as he had to wait nearly 11 years before earning his maiden cap. His perseverance bore fruit in 2017 when he made his international debut for Ireland against New Zealand. He went on to serve as a pivotal member of the national setup through 2022.
88 International Appearances and a Historic Number 8 Century
Over the course of his international career, Simi featured in 88 matches for Ireland across white-ball formats, comprising 35 One Day Internationals and 53 T20 Internationals. Across both formats, he accumulated more than 2,000 runs and claimed 83 wickets. His off-spin was exceptionally frugal in ODIs, finishing with a remarkable career economy rate of just 3.99.
The defining highlight of his playing career arrived in 2021 during an ODI against South Africa.
