India women continued their commanding run on home soil by securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe. Decisive victories in the opening fixtures held in Raipur did not just seal the bilateral contest, but also triggered noticeable upward movement for the host side in the latest weekly player rankings published by the ICC.
Notable Advances for Nandani Sharma and Kranti Gaur
The standout beneficiaries of the recent outings were India's emerging bowlers who kept Zimbabwe's scoring under tight check. Nandani Sharma made significant inroads with the ball across the first two matches, picking up three wickets to become the joint-highest wicket-taker of the series so far. That clinical display earned her a jump of 26 places on the ICC Women's T20I bowling charts, taking her to the 45th position globally.
Fellow bowling partner Kranti Gaur also registered steady gains in the rankings update. Gaur climbed nine rungs to reach the 43rd spot among T20I bowlers worldwide. Both bowlers took full advantage of the conditions in Raipur to stifle the visiting lineup and restrict them to below-par totals.
Sricharani and Deepti Sharma Maintain Dominance at the Top
At the very pinnacle of the bowling table, India preserved its dual supremacy. Sricharani stayed firmly perched as the world's number one bowler in women's T20 Internationals, while senior off-spinner Deepti Sharma maintained her position right behind her at number two. Highly disciplined spells against Zimbabwe ensured that neither bowler ceded ground in the rating points tally.
Global Shifts: Sutherland, Schutt and Perry Advance
The rankings update also captured developments from other ongoing international fixtures. Following the opening match of the Trans-Tasman T20 series between Australia and New Zealand, Australian pacer Annabel Sutherland stepped up one place to occupy the eighth position in the bowling list. Meanwhile, Australia's opening batter Beth Mooney maintained her reign as the world's top-ranked T20I batter.
Significant changes took place in the Women's ODI rankings following the conclusion of Australia's series against Bangladesh. Veteran fast bowler Megan Schutt advanced one position to sit fourth among ODI bowlers. Her teammate Ellyse Perry enjoyed notable surges across two separate categories: Perry moved up one spot to rank ninth among ODI batters, and climbed 14 places to secure the 25th rank among one-day all-rounders.
