Upon reaching Galle, situated on the south-western coast of the island nation, the visiting contingent was greeted with a warm traditional reception. Players were presented with ceremonial garlands and decorative wraps over their shoulders. They were also served fresh Sri Lankan king coconuts topped with orange slices. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, batter KL Rahul, and spinner Manav Suthar were seen enjoying the coconut water before entering the team hotel.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a 35-second travelogue video across social media platforms detailing the team's road journey from the capital city of Colombo to Galle. The footage highlighted smooth highways flanked by lush green vegetation and scenic coastal vistas. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja featured at the beginning of the clip, followed by Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and support staff member Aaqib Nabi boarding the team bus. The official social media caption announced that Team India had completed the journey from Colombo to Galle for the Test series opener.
