The second Test match of the series between India and Sri Lanka is currently underway at the SSC in Colombo. During the opening day of this encounter, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant sustained an injury while batting. Due to this physical discomfort, he was unable to take the field for wicketkeeping duties. Despite the injury, Pant returned to bat on the second day and played a magnificent half-century. However, on the third day of the match, Rishabh Pant did not step out for wicketkeeping and was spotted outside the boundary ropes with his shoulder strapped.
Morne Morkel Gives Big Update on Rishabh Pant Injury
A major question lingering in the minds of fans is whether Pant will return to resume wicketkeeping duties on the fourth day. Team India bowling coach Morne Morkel addressed this concern. Following the conclusion of the day's play on the third day, Morne Morkel provided an update regarding the fitness of Rishabh Pant. Notably, Pant has been in terrific batting form throughout the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka. At present, the Indian team physio is closely monitoring and working on Pant's injury, while captain Shubman Gill remains hopeful that he will achieve full fitness soon.
When Will Pant Make a Return?
While speaking about Rishabh Pant's fitness during the press conference, Morne Morkel stated that he has suffered a significant injury to his right shoulder. When he attempted to warm up this morning, his movement was restricted. We will monitor his condition overnight. Hopefully, he will be seen keeping wickets tomorrow. This statement makes it clear that Pant could well return to perform wicketkeeping duties on the field tomorrow.

Rishabh Pant has displayed stellar form in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka. Out of his last three innings, he has notched up half-centuries twice while also executing brilliant catches and stumpings behind the stumps. Following his injury on the opening day, his potential comeback will bolster the Indian team significantly as they enter the fourth day.
