Team India has suffered another major blow ahead of their two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, as young batter Sai Sudharsan has been ruled out due to injury. The middle-order batter failed to recover fully in time, adding to the mounting fitness concerns for the visiting side before the red-ball matches begin.
Sai Sudharsan's Injury Details
Sudharsan had been dealing with a stress issue in his right leg. Although his initial recovery was progressing well, recurring thumb pain ultimately forced him out of the entire Test series. While he was initially selected in the squad for the tour, his availability had remained subject to fitness clearance.
Broader Injury Setbacks for Team India
The loss of Sudharsan comes shortly after star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was also ruled out of the Sri Lanka Test series due to injury. Furthermore, captain Shubman Gill sustained a finger injury right before the warm-up fixture, leading to KL Rahul taking over the captaincy duties on the opening day of the match.
