Ahead of the upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka, young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has made his intentions clear with a power-packed performance in the warm-up match. Recovering quickly from an early setback, the left-handed batsman displayed aggressive intent to prove his readiness for the upcoming red-ball challenge.
Early Duck in the First Innings
The practice match did not start well for Yashasvi Jaiswal in the initial stages. During the first innings, he lasted only two balls at the crease and had to walk back to the pavilion without scoring a single run, failing to get off the mark.
Strong Comeback on the Final Day
On the third and final day of the warm-up fixture, Yashasvi Jaiswal staged a remarkable turnaround. Taking charge against the bowling attack, he wasted no time in settling down and raced to his half-century in just 43 deliveries.
A Knock Powered by Boundaries
During his stay at the crease, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 61 runs from 46 balls. His impactful innings featured 9 commanding fours and 2 towering sixes. After dictating terms to the bowlers, he chose to retire hurt to allow other teammates an opportunity to bat.
Boost Ahead of the Test Series
The two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin on August 15. Jaiswal finding his rhythm right before the main fixtures, alongside strong contributions from players like Devdutt Padikkal and Ravindra Jadeja in the practice games, provides a timely morale boost to the visiting side.
