The syndicate established specialized online groups on social media platforms, posing as dedicated supporters and well-wishers of the Indian Armed Forces. Serving soldiers were systematically added to these digital groups under false pretenses. Once contact was established, Sameera alongside other female handlers based in Pakistan initiated personal communications with the soldiers. What began as friendly, innocent interactions quickly escalated into intimate video calls, private messaging exchanges, and emotional entrapment. The ultimate objective of these simulated relationships was to compromise the target personnel, enabling the handlers to blackmail them into surrendering classified military documents, troop movement schedules, and operational details.
Strategic Targeting of Veterans at the Armed Forces Tribunal
Recognizing the potential vulnerability of former military personnel, the ISI specifically focused its efforts on retired soldiers.
