A tragic incident unfolded in Telangana where six students lost their lives after drowning in a tank during a Ganesh idol immersion. Police confirmed the distressing news, stating that the youth slipped into the water body while participating in the festive rituals.
Details of the Drowning Incident
The accident took place at the Neredu Cheruvu tank located within the jurisdiction of the Patancheru police station under the Cyberabad commissariat. The victims, aged between 17 and 22 years, accidentally fell into the tank while carrying out the Ganesh idol immersion and unfortunately could not stay afloat.
Hospital Arrival and Victim Identification
Prompt action by local residents helped pull the young men out of the water, following which they were rushed to a hospital. However, the attending doctors pronounced them dead upon arrival. The deceased were identified as Narsimha (21), Teja (17), Siddharth (17), Ganesh (18), Sumanth Reddy (17), and Uday Kiran (22).

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the death of the six students who had gone for the Vinayaka immersion. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and directed the district administration to provide necessary assistance to the affected households. Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka also voiced profound grief over the tragedy, extending her sympathies to the grieving families and assuring them that the government stands firmly with them during this difficult period. To gather comprehensive details about the accident, Minister Seethakka spoke over the phone with the Sangareddy District Collector, inquiring about the causes of the mishap, ongoing relief operations, and the support being extended to the families.

The minister further discussed the incident with Shruti Ojha, Secretary of the Women and Child Welfare Department. She instructed officials to coordinate efforts in delivering essential assistance to the affected families and implementing robust measures to secure children's safety. Minister Seethakka advised authorities to remain extra vigilant regarding child safety, specifically ordering that strict preventive measures be enforced near dangerous water bodies in areas where immersion ceremonies take place to keep children away from deep waters.
