In the 2026 Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections, a total of 20 candidates are contesting across the four central panel positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary. Contest for the Post of President
The presidential race features seven candidates, with primary competition concentrated among the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), and the Left alliance comprising AISA and SFI.
- Yash Dabas (ABVP): Hailing from Kanjhawala, Dabas is a student in the Department of Buddhist Studies and possesses a competitive sports background as a tennis player.
- Vijay Shankar Meena (NSUI): Also enrolled in the Department of Buddhist Studies, Meena represents NSUI and hails from Rajasthan.
- Ananya Raturi (AISA-SFI): A student from PGDAV College, Raturi leads the campaign for the Left coalition as their candidate for the top post.
Key Faces for Vice President and Secretary
A field of five candidates is vying for the post of Vice President. The primary contest is unfolding between ABVP nominee Ishu Maurya and NSUI candidate Veer Chatrath. Maurya studies at the Campus Law Centre and previously served as the president of Satyawati College (Morning), whereas Chatrath is enrolled in the Department of Buddhist Studies.
For the post of Secretary, ABVP has fielded Riya Chhabri, a basketball player from Sri Aurobindo College. She faces strong competition from NSUI nominee Namrata Choudhary and Left alliance candidate Stanzin Deskyong.
Joint Secretary Race and Buddhist Studies Influence
The contest for Joint Secretary features ABVP candidate Lakshyaraj Singh from the Campus Law Centre. Singh is a national-level handball player with ties to the Asian Games and the World Championship. Competing against him are NSUI candidate Gopal Choudhary alongside independent contenders.
