Transitioning from a stellar performer on screen to a nurturing force behind the camera, Alia Bhatt is embarking on a significant new phase of her cinematic journey. With her upcoming production venture titled 'Don't Be Shy', the actress is stepping into a role that has made her feel exceptionally anxious, a feeling she rarely experiences as an actor. Rather than worrying about her own performance, her current nervousness stems from a deep sense of responsibility toward the fresh talents she is launching with this project. This transition marks a major milestone in her career as she takes on the mantle of a mentor.
A Shift From Acting to Mentoring
During the recent trailer launch event, when questions arose about whether she felt the urge to cast herself in the film, Alia Bhatt clarified that she never entertained the idea of acting in 'Don't Be Shy'. She expressed immense satisfaction in solely donning the producer's hat for this project. She explained that being involved in the creation of the story and building its world from the ground up brought a different kind of fulfillment. Having made her own acting debut fourteen years ago in the movie 'Student of the Year', she finds herself in a full-circle moment where she is now introducing four debutant actors and a first-time director.
Finding Peace Behind the Camera
Alia Bhatt shared that while she absolutely loves the craft of acting and being in front of the camera, stepping back as a producer has given her an entirely unique sense of peace and accomplishment. She mentioned how she is currently feeling far more nervous than the newcomers themselves because of her deep involvement in their debut journey. She added that seeing these newcomers perform reminded her of her own initial days in the industry when she was equally anxious and raw. She recalled how the film's director, Sriti Mukherjee, initially approached her with the concept. Drawn to the idea, Alia and her team instantly agreed to collaborate, eventually presenting the project to their streaming partners to bring this heartfelt story to life.
