A long-running youth franchise has abandoned its traditional glitz and high-energy romance to explore a sinister territory filled with crime and deadly secrets. Moving far away from the sunlit grounds, fashionable rivalries, and romantic triangles of the original cinematic debut starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra, this latest spin-off plunges directly into a chilling investigative thriller. The newly unveiled footage for 'Student of the Year: After Dark' highlights actress Shanaya Kapoor taking center stage in dual roles, steering the narrative toward a grim inquiry inside the familiar gates of St. Teresa.
A Chilling Recovery at Barakhali Lake
The dark narrative kicks off with a grim discovery inside the icy waters of Barakhali Lake, where the submerged body of a student named Ayesha Malik is retrieved. The unsettling scene immediately prompts difficult questions regarding whether her demise was an unfortunate mishap or a cold-blooded crime. Driven by a determination to uncover the reality behind the tragedy, her twin sister Aditi, also portrayed by Shanaya Kapoor, arrives at St. Teresa. Aditi begins questioning everyone in her sibling's inner circle, including her closest friend, her roommate, her boyfriend, and a rejected suitor who had harbored bitter feelings.
Dangerous Underground Contests Inside St. Teresa
As Aditi navigates the complex social dynamics of the prestigious institution, her search uncovers a concealed brooch that connects directly to an underground contest operating covertly among the pupils. The high-stakes challenges resemble the perilous atmosphere of the South Korean survival hit 'Squid Game', featuring participants clad in distinctive uniforms while tackling hazardous trials. Instead of standard academic rivalries, the students are trapped in a web of deceit, long-buried secrets, and perilous confrontations where survival itself is on the line.
Cast Ensemble and Digital Premiere Date
Helmed by director Reema Maya and produced under the banner of Dharmatic Entertainment, the upcoming drama features a broad supporting cast alongside Kapoor, who previously appeared opposite Adarsh Gourav in 'Tu Yaa Main'. The ensemble includes Sheeba Chaddha, Vivek Gomber, Divik Sharma, Abhinav Singh, Manya Grover, Diya Damani, and Aadi Malik. The suspenseful web series is scheduled to begin streaming on JioHotstar starting November 13.
