Audiences who missed out on watching this high-octane spy thriller on the big screen are now getting a second chance to experience it. Headlined by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, Alpha served as the next installment in the expansive Yash Raj Spy Universe, though it struggled heavily during its theatrical run. For viewers who skipped the film in cinemas, the upcoming digital release offers a chance to enjoy the action-packed entertainer right at home with family.
Theatrical Journey and Initial Release
The feature originally arrived in cinemas on July 3, showcasing intense action sequences executed by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh. Alongside the two leading ladies, the project also featured power-packed performances from veteran actors Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol. Despite generating substantial buzz prior to its arrival and surviving a postponed release date, the film ultimately failed to draw crowds into theaters, falling short of commercial expectations under the direction of Shiv Rawail.
OTT Streaming Date on Netflix
Roughly a month and a half after its theatrical setback, the project is officially transitioning to the digital space. According to available reports, Alpha is scheduled to premiere on Netflix toward the end of this month on August 28. While an official announcement from the streaming giant or the production house is still pending, industry reports point toward this late August timeline for digital streaming.
Language Availability and Dubs
As per current updates, the Netflix release on August 28 will debut exclusively in the Hindi language. Specific details regarding Tamil, Telugu, or other regional audio versions remain unconfirmed at this stage. Viewers waiting for regional dubs will have to wait for further official clarification from the platform regarding wider language support.
Character Breakdown and Cast Dynamics
Diving into the character arcs, Alia Bhatt portrayed the central role of Sita, functioning as a RAW agent and an Alpha soldier. She is paired alongside Sharvari Wagh, who essayed the character of Durga, serving as the second Alpha soldier as the duo embarks on a high-stakes mission. Bobby Deol took on the responsibility of training Sita, preparing her meticulously for the operation. Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor appeared as the RAW chief, and Hrithik Roshan made an appearance in the project as a major.
Budget and Box Office Performance
Examining the financial performance of Alpha, the production carried a substantial budget ranging between 100 and 120 crore rupees. Unfortunately, due to its underwhelming box office run, the movie failed to recover its base production costs, leaving makers struggling to break even in cinemas. By the end of its theatrical lifetime, the feature managed to collect a meager 59 crore rupees, which amounts to roughly half of its total manufacturing budget.
