In an Instagram story, she criticized Taapsee, stating that a cheap copy is busy promoting an upcoming B-grade film and once again using her name merely to grab headlines in the media. Kangana expressed outrage over comments touching upon her upbringing and parents, emphasizing that every parent does their best for their children and she herself never drags anyone's parents into public arguments. She questioned why such attempts are made to create carbon copies.

The animosity between the two actors dates back to 2019 when Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel first labeled Taapsee a cheap copy. That flare-up occurred after Taapsee praised a trailer for the film Judgementall Hai Kya but omitted any direct mention of Kangana. The verbal sparring escalated further in 2020 amid heated industry debates surrounding nepotism and the treatment of outsiders, during which Kangana famously referred to Taapsee and Swara Bhasker as B-grade actors.
