Pan-India star Prabhas has officially locked the release date for his upcoming cinematic venture titled 'Spirit'. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga took to social media to share a brand-new poster alongside the long-awaited theatrical release schedule, indicating that audiences will need to wait for over a year to watch the film in theatres.
The makers confirmed that 'Spirit' is slated to hit the silver screen during Diwali next year. However, the festive window is already crowded as Namit Malhotra's 'Ramayana Part 2' is also scheduled for the same period. Meanwhile, the first instalment starring Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for a Diwali release on October 5, 2026. While the makers have maintained that the second part arrives next year, it remains to be seen whether a direct box office clash between 'Spirit' and 'Ramayana Part 2' will materialize.
The finalized release date for 'Spirit' is set for October 29, 2027. Sandeep Reddy Vanga unveiled the update alongside an intense poster featuring Prabhas sporting a heavy beard, a black outfit, and a black cap, creating a striking and commanding presence that instantly grabbed attention.
The film is being helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who previously directed 'Animal'. The project is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga. Initially, the film was planned for release on March 5, 2027.
The project previously made headlines due to controversies surrounding Deepika Padukone, who was originally slated to play the lead role. Creative differences regarding an eight-hour working shift reportedly led to a fallout between the actress and the makers, resulting in her departure from the venture.
Later, the director's brother Pranay Reddy Vanga alleged during an interview that the actress had demanded a hefty remuneration along with a ten percent profit share, which did not work out. He also claimed that plot details and character specifics leaked around the same period, causing dissatisfaction among the creative team.
Following the casting changes, Triptii Dimri boarded the project. The makers previously released a New Year promotional poster featuring the actress alongside Prabhas in a striking sequence.
Apart from the lead pair, the ensemble cast of 'Spirit' includes Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Desai. A stylish promotional look featuring Vivek Oberoi was also released earlier, though further details regarding the plot and supporting characters are currently kept under wraps.
