Incidents involving the misuse of bank accounts for cyber crimes and online fraud continue to emerge across Rajasthan. In a significant breakthrough, the Sukher police station in Udaipur has busted a network handling online transactions through mule accounts. The police raided a villa located in the Kavita area and arrested four accused individuals hailing from Gujarat. According to the police, the accused were using bank accounts belonging to other people to route transactions related to online betting, gambling, and gaming. To facilitate this, they lured poor and gullible individuals, acquired their bank accounts, and used them to process financial transactions.
Luring Vulnerable People with Commission Promises
In exchange for the use of their accounts, the account holders were promised commissions, while the accused themselves profited heavily from the network. The police seized three laptops, 19 Android mobile phones, 19 ATM cards, 19 bank passbooks, and five checkbooks from the spot. Preliminary investigations revealed that cybercrime complaints linked to these seized bank accounts have been registered in multiple states across the country. The police are currently interrogating the suspects to uncover other members of the network, the extent of the bank accounts used, and the financial pathways involved in the transactions.
Raid Yields Electronic Gadgets and Banking Documents
During the operation, the Sukher police station arrested Sangatha Ji, Kiran Kumar, Hitesh Kumar, and Pawan Darji, all residents of Gujarat. By raiding the villa in the Kavita area, police secured various electronic equipment and banking documents currently being used for illegal operations. Based on the recovered items, authorities suspect that massive financial transactions were being routed through numerous bank accounts from this location. Investigators are now questioning the accused to determine who else is involved in this activity and where the bank accounts were originally sourced from.
Cybercrime Complaints Registered Across Multiple States
Information has surfaced showing that cybercrime complaints connected to the seized bank accounts are registered in several states, raising suspicions that the network extends far beyond state borders. The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant legal sections and launched a thorough investigation. The seized mobile phones, laptops, ATM cards, passbooks, and checkbooks will be examined to trace the exact volume of transactions and identify the roles played by other associates linked to this fraudulent operation.
