The eagerly awaited second installment of the hit crime thriller series Farzi has officially expanded its primary cast. Actress Yukti Thareja, widely recognized for her work in 'Hai Junoon! Dream. Dare. Dominate' and 'Delhi Crime Season 3', has come on board to share the screen alongside Shahid Kapoor in Farzi Season 2. Created and helmed by the acclaimed filmmaking duo Raj and DK, the original season was a massive hit across streaming audiences, setting a very high benchmark for the upcoming chapter.
The Only Female Character in the New Season
Yukti Thareja opened up regarding her involvement in the production, revealing that she essays the primary female role opposite Shahid Kapoor. She noted that her character stands as the sole prominent female presence in the entire second season, with all of her filming scenes staged alongside Kapoor. Describing her character profile, she highlighted that she portrays a contemporary, outspoken Gen-Z woman who fearlessly raises her voice against the established system. The part is crafted as an assertive and emotionally layered individual who significantly impacts the unfolding narrative.
Production Timeline and Planned Release
Filming for the much-discussed project is already deep into its production schedule. Thareja confirmed that she has already wrapped up the major share of her acting duties for the series, with only about 20 percent of her shoot remaining to be completed. Based on the current pipeline of production and post-production work, the new season is expected to debut around the middle of 2027. Given the major digital reception commanded by the debut installment, the creative team is taking the time needed to mount the expansive storyline.
Where the Story Left Off in Season One
In the opening season, Shahid Kapoor headlined the drama as Sunny, an exceptionally gifted artist who turns his printing talents toward manufacturing counterfeit currency. The finale culminated in an intense cliffhanger as Sunny and his trusted associate Firoz, portrayed by Bhuvan Arora, managed to outmaneuver two deadly opposing forces. They slipped past Michael, the dedicated special task force officer played by Vijay Sethupathi, as well as the ruthless syndicate leader Mansoor Dalal, played by Kay Kay Menon. Season 2 picks up their pursuit as the duo tries to sustain their illegal counterfeit operation while remaining one step ahead of both relentless pursuers.
Career Trajectory from Viral Music Video to Crime Drama
Yukti Thareja first rose to widespread national attention through the record-breaking music video 'Lut Gaye', in which she starred opposite Emraan Hashmi. Sung by Jubin Nautiyal, that track became a massive digital sensation, crossing over 1 billion views on YouTube. Beyond her notable music video appearance, Thareja also demonstrated her screen presence in the gritty Malayalam action thriller Marco. Stepping into Farzi 2 places her front and center in one of the most high-profile streaming franchises currently in development.
