In the heart of Delhi's Connaught Place, a modest litti-chokha stall has built a loyal following for serving up authentic Bihar flavours. Office-goers stop by on their way home, while others travel across the city just to get a taste. With no big signage or advertising, the stall has earned its reputation purely on the strength of its food.
No machines, just the traditional way
The litti here is still made the old fashioned way. Wheat dough is stuffed with sattu, spices and mustard oil, then roasted slowly over a low flame until it turns crisp on the outside and soft inside. As soon as it comes off the fire, the hot litti is dunked in pure ghee. The aroma alone is enough to pull passersby toward the stall.
A chokha that tastes like home
The litti is served with a chokha made from brinjal, potato and tomato, along with green chillies, chopped onion and lemon on the side. Every bite tastes just like something made in a home kitchen, which is why customers who try it once tend to keep coming back.
From Modi to Aamir Khan, big names have stopped by
The stall isn't just a favourite among regular passersby, it has hosted some well known names too. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, actor Aamir Khan and Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari have all tasted the litti-chokha here and openly praised its flavour.
150 plates a day, thousands in daily earnings
Rocky, who runs the stall, said a single plate of litti-chokha costs just Rs 50. Even at that price, he sells around 150 plates every day, comfortably earning between Rs 5,000 and Rs 6,000 daily. Running since 2010 and known for its Patna Special litti-chokha, the stall stays open from 10 am to 10 pm, drawing crowds for roughly 12 hours a day.
