A household in Vadodara, Gujarat has been plunged into acute distress after their young pet bird vanished without a trace. The Parikh family, residing in the Iskcon Heights complex along Sevasi Road, has been desperately searching for their six-month-old African Grey parrot named Laddu, who went missing four days ago. The sudden disappearance has devastated the primary caregiver, Jesica Parikh, who has refused to consume any food since the incident occurred.
Bird Was Brought From Mumbai in July
The family had purchased the exotic avian companion from Mumbai in July for a sum of one lakh ten thousand rupees. From the day of his arrival, Laddu became an inseparable part of the household routine. Dedicated to raising the young bird with utmost devotion, Jesica Parikh even stepped down from her employment at a private school so she could devote her full time and energy to his nurturing and day-to-day care.
Throughout the day, the bird remained constantly beside her, accompanying her from dawn to dusk. He would often rest directly on her lap or perch near her chest while eating meals together. Today, his empty cage in the living space serves as a painful reminder, bringing the family to tears as Jesica's physical condition deteriorates due to her four-day hunger strike and persistent anxiety.
Identifying Marks and Substantial Search Reward
Having combed nearby streets and surrounding neighborhoods without finding any clue regarding the bird's whereabouts, the Parikh family has made a public appeal for assistance. To encourage local citizens to keep an eye out, the family formally announced a cash reward of one lakh rupees for anyone who tracks down Laddu and returns him home unharmed.
To assist in recognizing the bird among others, specific physical features have been detailed. Laddu bears a distinctive visible mark near his eye, accompanied by rough textured patches on his beak. Furthermore, he is wearing a small metal band or ring around one of his feet. The family hopes these unique traits will allow vigilant residents or bird enthusiasts to identify him accurately if spotted.
Heartfelt Plea From the Grieving Caregiver
An overwhelmed Jesica Parikh spoke about the deep emotional connection she shares with the lost companion. "Laddu is not just a parrot to me, he is my son," she stated, recounting how she brought him up like her own child and remains constantly terrified over whether he has eaten or found safe shelter.
Urging the public to approach their plight with empathy, Jesica noted that while some people tend to ridicule the deep emotional bonds formed between pet parents and their animals, true distress can only be understood by those who have cared for a speechless creature. She pleaded with people not to make light of their agony, but instead to assist actively in locating Laddu so he can be reunited with his waiting family.
