Administrative action has been taken at the District Hospital in Noida following the discovery of widespread irregularities in the recruitment of medical personnel. A probe conducted by the National Health Mission rendered the appointments of 17 healthcare workers, comprising 15 staff nurses and 2 lab technicians, completely illegal. The personnel, who had been actively treating patients and performing diagnostic tests for nearly three years, have had their salaries immediately withheld following official orders from state authorities. The recruitments were conducted locally between 2023 and 2025 in violation of prescribed government rules.
Bypassing Mandated Recruitment Norms
According to available details, the 17 staff members were brought into the workforce of the district hospital between 2023 and 2025. Under established state government guidelines, district hospital administrations lack the authority to conduct local recruitment drives for staff nurse and lab technician roles. Despite these explicit restrictions, hiring protocols were bypassed to complete the appointments. Reports indicate that an outsourcing agency was utilized for the hiring drive without adhering to mandatory administrative procedures or securing proper regulatory clearances. The revelations have brought the role of the agency and internal approving authorities under severe administrative scrutiny.
State Directives from Lucknow Lead to Salary Freeze
The audit conducted by the National Health Mission brought the procedural lapses to light, prompting officials to submit a report to the state health department headquarters in Lucknow. After reviewing the findings, high-ranking health officials in Lucknow dispatched a formal directive to district health leadership outlining instructions to halt employment benefits and freeze salary disbursements. Acting upon this communique, the Chief Medical Officer issued a official letter to the Chief Medical Superintendent of the district hospital, instructing an immediate halt to all salary payments for the 17 health workers.
Inquiry Panel Formed to Fix Official Accountability
Clarifying the administrative position on the issue, Chief Medical Superintendent Ashok Kumar Jha confirmed that salary payments were suspended following official orders received from state authorities in response to the National Health Mission inquiry. He stated that a dedicated investigation committee has been instituted to establish how these appointments received clearance, which officials facilitated the process, and whether the outsourcing agency acted outside its mandate. The Chief Medical Superintendent added that once the inquiry team submits its findings, strict legal and administrative measures will be enforced against any accountable officials or external entities implicated in the recruitment scandal.
