In a major crackdown against corruption, the vigilance department apprehended a female Patwari accepting a bribe in the Baddi area of Solan district in Himachal Pradesh. Lalita, who was posted at the Barotiwala Patwar circle, was caught red-handed while taking the illegal gratification from a local resident.
Bribe demanded for land document
According to the details available, a complainant had approached the vigilance authorities stating that the Patwari was demanding money in exchange for issuing a land value certificate. Following the complaint, the vigilance team conducted a preliminary inquiry and verified the allegations. Finding the complaint to be genuine, the officials devised a strategic plan to nab the accused red-handed.
Vigilance team executes the trap
Acting swiftly, a team from the Baddi vigilance police station laid a trap in the Barotiwala area. The accused Patwari was caught on the spot while accepting the bribe amount. The authorities seized the alleged bribe money from her possession. Officials stated that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused, and further investigation into the matter is currently underway to uncover other possible aspects.
Strict action promised by authorities
Vigilance IG Bimal Gupta confirmed that one lakh rupees were recovered from the accused woman. The department reiterated that operations against corrupt practices will continue relentlessly and no erring official or employee will be spared. Meanwhile, Tehsildar Satender Singh informed the media that departmental action will also be initiated against the arrested Patwari.
