Preliminary reports indicate that three women sustained minor injuries during the chaos, but a much larger human tragedy was averted purely because locals managed to flee to safer higher grounds just in time.

A total of 18 homes were directly impacted by the violent landslides and flash floods. This includes 13 fully constructed concrete houses and five temporary mud structures that simply could not withstand the natural onslaught. Nine cattle sheds, essential for housing the villagers' livestock safely, were completely flattened by the debris. The tragic loss of animal life includes nine confirmed dead animals, comprising three buffaloes, four cows, one ox, and one sheep. The loss of these animals represents a significant financial and emotional setback for the rural communities that rely heavily on animal husbandry for their daily livelihood and long-term sustenance.

He noted that the injured women are receiving appropriate care and expressed profound relief that the cloudburst occurred during the daytime, which provided residents a crucial window to evacuate and prevented a massive loss of human life. Ensuring full government backing, Sukhu announced that he will personally visit the disaster-struck zones as soon as the weather conditions improve and travel becomes viable. A Bleak Weather Forecast: Seven Days of Heavy Rain
The ordeal for the hilly state is unfortunately far from over. The Meteorological Centre in Shimla has issued a strict and grim forecast, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh for the next seven days. An intense weather system is expected to persist until at least July 28. Specifically, the weather department has sounded a severe alert for the districts of Chamba and Kangra, warning of extremely heavy downpours. Similar alerts for heavy rainfall have been extended to Una, Kullu, Mandi, and the capital city of Shimla, while Sirmaur is expected to witness moderate to heavy showers. The past 24 hours have already recorded staggering rainfall metrics across various stations. Mashobra recorded a massive 12 cm of rain, followed closely by Naina Devi at 11 cm, and Nangal Dam at 9 cm. Popular tourist hubs including Shimla, Kufri, Dharamshala, and Bilaspur have also been battered by continuous heavy rain. Additionally, the meteorological bulletin has warned of high-velocity winds blowing at 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in the high-altitude tribal districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, while lower regions face severe thunderstorms.
