Three engineers lost their lives and another sustained critical injuries following a major industrial accident in the Ramgarh district of Jharkhand. The tragic incident took place late Friday night at the Maa Chhin Mastike Cement and Ispat factory located in the Hehal area of Barkakana in Ramgarh. The disaster has triggered widespread grief and anger throughout the industrial vicinity.
How the Accident Occurred in the Turbine Section
According to initial details, the explosion occurred inside the power plant's turbine section. Early findings indicate that an overheating issue developed within the turbine's overspeed panel. During this malfunction, safety mechanisms reportedly failed to function properly, leading to a sudden and violent blast within the turbine. The impact of the explosion was so severe that the engineers working in the area were instantly engulfed, resulting in three on-the-spot fatalities.
Injured Engineer Undergoing Treatment
An engineer named Tarun Ravani suffered severe injuries in the devastating blast. Immediately following the incident, he was rushed from the site and admitted to a private hospital in Ranchi, where he is currently receiving medical care. The abrupt nature of the accident created immediate panic and chaos across the entire factory premises.
Following the tragedy, workers at the factory expressed deep anger and leveled serious accusations against the factory management. The protesting workers asserted that safety regulations and protocols are routinely neglected at the facility. They argued that such a catastrophic accident is the direct result of gross negligence concerning workplace safety.
Demands for Compensation and High-Level Inquiry
Incensed by the safety lapses, the workers have demanded adequate financial compensation for the families of the deceased. Additionally, they have called for a thorough, high-level and impartial investigation into the entire incident. The workforce maintains that if any negligence in safety management is uncovered during the probe, strict penal action must be taken against the responsible parties.
