If you want your home garden to remain filled with a refreshing fragrance all year round, planting rosemary is an excellent choice. The leaves of this plant emit a wonderful aroma, and it does not demand intensive maintenance. Beyond enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your living space, the plant serves multiple practical purposes. Its leaves are commonly used as a spice in cooking. Additionally, rosemary finds extensive application in the manufacturing of herbal products, essential oils, and various cosmetics.
The rosemary plant requires well drained soil and an adequate amount of sunlight to flourish properly. When placed in the right spot and cultivated correctly, it grows in a healthy manner. According to nursery operator Neck Singh, people increasingly prefer adding this aromatic plant to their home gardens due to its delightful fragrance.
Neck Singh has been running a nursery business for the past 15 years. He explains that rosemary is an aromatic plant used in a wide range of herbal and medicinal products. Its pleasant scent also improves the overall ambiance around the house. According to Singh, the natural fragrance of rosemary can help keep mosquitoes away. These days, the plant enjoys strong demand at the nursery, with locals purchasing it eagerly.
Anyone wishing to grow rosemary at home will find it better to plant it in a large pot. It can be placed in an area with frequent family movement so that the fragrance remains easily noticeable throughout the day. Singh noted that the rosemary plants come from Pune, Maharashtra, and are sold through the nursery. Since this plant cannot be easily propagated through stem cuttings by amateurs, people prefer buying a fully grown sapling directly from the nursery.
The rosemary plant should never be overwatered. Irrigation must be managed carefully based on the moisture levels present in the soil. Water should not stagnate inside the pot, which makes proper drainage an essential requirement. Organic fertilizer, cocopeat, and cow dung manure can be used when potting the plant.
With proper care and maintenance, a rosemary plant can grow up to 5 to 6 feet tall. However, its final height largely depends on the size of the container and the level of attention it receives. Adequate sunlight, the right amount of water, and quality soil allow this plant to last for a long time. Thanks to its wonderful fragrance and high utility, rosemary makes a fantastic addition to any home garden.
