In a chilling incident reported from the Kapurbawdi area of Thane in Maharashtra, a 40-year-old labourer was beaten to death inside a municipal-run public toilet. Local police have registered a case of murder and other relevant sections against two individuals in connection with the crime. According to police officials, the deceased has been identified as Raju Gujarati, and the incident took place late Sunday night.
Brutal Assault Following a Dispute
According to investigators, Raju had an argument over an unspecified matter with Raman Mishra, the brother of the toilet facility contractor, and Mishra's friend Prahlad Gaud. The accused allegedly assaulted Raju during the altercation, smashing his head against a wall and striking him with a floor tile. Raju sustained severe injuries during the attack, which ultimately led to his death.
Body Dumped and Concealed in a Drain
Following the killing, the accused attempted to hide the body by throwing it into a nearby drain. The remains were covered with cement bags, garbage, and other materials to prevent immediate detection. Acting on information, the police recovered the body and initiated a thorough investigation. A case covering murder and related offences has been filed against Raman Mishra and Prahlad Gaud, and law enforcement teams are actively searching for the absconding suspects.
Student Dies by Suicide After Missing Desired Admission
In a separate tragic development from the same city, a 17-year-old student deeply distressed over failing to secure admission to his preferred higher education institute died by suicide. The student had achieved an impressive 95.7 percent score in his class 12 science examinations. Police stated that the incident occurred within the Hiranandani Estate on Ghodbunder Road. The deceased teenager aspired to pursue a BS-MS dual degree from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur. However, having secured a rank of 10,474 in the entrance exam, he failed to obtain his desired seat, causing him severe mental distress.
Family Alerted via WhatsApp Group Message
On Friday evening, the student left his home under the pretext of going cycling. At around 8:15 PM, he sent a message to his family's WhatsApp group indicating his intention to end his life. When his phone subsequently became unreachable, the family immediately alerted the Kasarvadavli police station. During the search, it was discovered that the teenager had jumped from the 22nd floor of a residential building and was found lying grievously injured on the pavement near the apartment complex. He was swiftly rushed to a hospital, where attending physicians pronounced him dead upon arrival.
