Indian equity benchmarks recorded substantial gains on the opening session of the week, boosted by persistent buying across heavyweight constituents. Following an upbeat opening, domestic equities maintained their upward trajectory throughout the trading hours. The BSE Sensex settled higher by 1233.25 points, representing an advance of 1.66 percent, to finish at 75,692.78. Simultaneously, the broader NSE Nifty 50 index surged 387.70 points, or 1.68 percent, closing the day firmly at 23,440.80. Heavyweight stocks took the reins to guide indices into comfortably green territory.
Reliance Industries and Tata Steel Lead the Rally
The primary catalyst behind the broad market advance was India's most valuable enterprise, Reliance Industries, which witnessed aggressive accumulation. Shares of Reliance Industries rallied by an impressive 11.64 percent, emerging as the top gainer on the Sensex board. Metal heavyweight Tata Steel also attracted notable buying interest, closing up by 5.64 percent. State-run power utility NTPC added 2.37 percent, passenger vehicle leader Maruti Suzuki rose 2.16 percent, and non-banking financial lender Bajaj Finance ended 2.02 percent higher.
Broad Market Breadth Favors Buyers across Blue Chips
Market breadth across primary indices remained overwhelmingly tilted in favor of advancers. Within the 30-stock Sensex basket, 23 counters concluded the session in positive territory, whereas only 7 constituents slipped into the red. On the NSE Nifty 50, a solid majority of 38 companies closed with gains, leaving just 12 components trading with losses. This distribution underscored sustained momentum across key sectors, supporting the benchmark indices from the opening bell to the final bell.
