The United States Dollar continues to exert considerable influence across global foreign exchange markets, keeping the Euro on the defensive. Strategists at Nordea observe that the EUR/USD pair has already reached its initial target of 1.12 projected for the first half of 2027, touching that milestone substantially faster than earlier forecasts anticipated. In light of this accelerated adjustment, the institution anticipates further Greenback outperformance against the single currency over the coming quarters.
Revised Trajectory and Multi-Year Price Targets
Reflecting the persistent strength behind the American currency, Nordea has trimmed its year-end EUR/USD projection down to 1.10, shifting lower from its previous target of 1.14. The bank's macroeconomic desk outlines a scenario where the exchange rate could weaken further to test the 1.08 threshold during the opening six months of 2027. A broader turnaround is anticipated only in the subsequent phases, with projections pointing toward a rebound to 1.14 in the second half of 2027 and a steady advance toward 1.20 by the conclusion of 2028.
Nordea highlighted that their constructive posture on the Dollar relative to the Euro remains solid over the next six to nine months. The analytical rationale underpinning this stance rests on several core pillars: transatlantic interest rate differentials, substantial investment inflows linked to artificial intelligence development in the United States, and ongoing political uncertainties across Europe that continue to weigh on the Eurozone economic outlook.
Fed Chair Warsh's Comments Trigger Short-Term Dollar Selling
Despite the broader structural support favoring the greenback, immediate trading during Friday's Asian session saw the US Dollar surrender ground across several major crosses. Remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Warsh introduced fresh selling pressure into currency trading desks. While Warsh emphasized a firm dedication to restoring price stability, he offered no clear roadmap regarding the trajectory of impending interest rate adjustments. This ambiguity surrounding future monetary tightening prompted market participants to pare back short-term dollar positions.
Consequently, the Australian Dollar gathered upward momentum, lifting the AUD/USD rate toward 0.6950 during Asian trading hours. Concurrently, the USD/JPY pair succumbed to renewed downward momentum, slipping beneath the 158.00 psychological threshold as traders adjusted their exposure following Warsh's guarded commentary.
Retreating Treasury Yields Lift Gold Toward Key Resistance
The softer tone in the Dollar and a pullback in US Treasury bond yields provided substantial tailwinds for the commodities complex, particularly precious metals. Bullion recorded gains for the second consecutive session, hovering in the vicinity of $4,180 per ounce.
Market participants are now focusing on the $4,230 resistance region, which represents the ceiling of the October trading band. A combination of declining yields on US government debt and dovish rhetoric from Federal Reserve officials undermined speculative appetite for the Dollar, creating room for precious metals to mount an extended rally.
