The Indian capital markets are gearing up for what could emerge as the largest initial public offering in domestic financial history. Jio Platforms, the digital and telecommunications arm of Reliance Industries, may enter the primary market as early as next month in June. Market experts assess that the company could command an overall valuation ranging between $130 billion and $180 billion. While an official launch date has not yet been formally announced by the corporate board, formal details and a timeline are widely anticipated in the near term.
Surpassing Hyundai Motor India's Previous Record
Estimates project the issue size of the Jio Platforms IPO to hover between Rs 30,000 crore and Rs 37,500 crore. If launched within this targeted bandwidth, the issue will easily eclipse the previous historic milestone established by Hyundai Motor India, which raised Rs 27,870 crore through its public offer in 2024. During the Reliance annual general meeting in 2025, Mukesh Ambani explicitly committed to bringing the Jio public issue to market during the first half of 2026. In the Reliance annual report released on Thursday, Ambani noted that concerted actions are underway to fortify institutional structures, elevate governance transparency, and position Jio Platforms as a global technology powerhouse.
Strategic Direction Outlined by Mukesh Ambani
Addressing the forthcoming public listing, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said,
"We will continue to evaluate strategic options to enhance stakeholder participation and support Jio's long-term growth while adhering to the principles of sustainable value creation."
Mukesh Ambani further highlighted that with the communicated timeline for the public float rapidly approaching, diverse avenues are being explored to foster extensive stakeholder engagement across Jio Platforms. This strategy seeks to sustain high-grade operational governance while aligning capital expansion directly with long-term digital growth initiatives.
Global Strategic Backing and Robust Financial Growth
In terms of equity structure, Reliance Industries retains a commanding 66.43 percent ownership stake in Jio Platforms Limited. The firm also counts prominent international technology giants, including Meta and Google, among its major strategic equity partners. The digital major's financial performance highlights robust underlying momentum. For the fiscal year 2025-26, Jio Platforms registered a 15 percent climb in net profit to reach Rs 30,053 crore, rising from Rs 26,120 crore recorded in the preceding year. Concurrently, operational revenue advanced 14.5 percent to touch Rs 1,46,885 crore, underscoring solid monetization gains across its nationwide consumer base.
