The long wait for lottery hopefuls across Kerala is finally coming to an end today. The Kerala State Lotteries Department will declare the Karunya Plus KN-630 result at 3 PM on Thursday, July 2. With a headline reward of Rs 1 crore, this weekly draw remains a favourite right across the state.
The Karunya Plus weekly draw pulls in lakhs of participants from every corner of Kerala. Alongside its top prize, the draw carries a string of other cash rewards that keep interest high week after week.
The full prize breakdown
The prize structure for Karunya Plus KN-630 is a detailed one, spread across 10 categories that also include a consolation prize. The first prize is Rs 1,00,00,000, or a full Rs 1 crore. Whoever bags the second prize takes home Rs 30 lakh, while the third prize is fixed at Rs 5 lakh.
Beyond the top three, several more categories carry rewards. The fourth prize is Rs 5,000, followed by Rs 2,000 for the fifth, Rs 1,000 for the sixth, Rs 500 for the seventh, Rs 200 for the eighth and Rs 100 for the ninth. On top of that, eligible ticket holders will receive a consolation prize of Rs 5,000 as laid down in the Kerala State Lotteries rules.
How and where to claim
Winners whose prize is below Rs 5,000 can collect the money from any authorised lottery shop in Kerala. If the amount goes past Rs 5,000, however, the winner must hand over the original winning ticket at a government lottery office or an authorised bank, along with valid identity proof and the other required documents. It is a good idea to sign the back of the ticket before submitting it for verification.
Tax and agent commission
Winners should also keep in mind that 30 per cent of the prize money is deducted as income tax under the applicable rules before the payout is handed over.
The Kerala State Lotteries Department also pays a commission to the agent on winning tickets. For the first, second and third prizes, the authorised agent who sold the winning ticket earns 12 per cent of the prize amount. For the fourth through ninth prizes and the consolation prize, the agent is paid a 10 per cent commission out of the government-allocated fund.
