This development came to light during ongoing hearings in the apex court, where various dimensions of the ongoing situation were being deliberated by the bench.

During the court session, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta strongly urged that CJP's proposed protest march for September 5 should be called off entirely. Responding to this, CJP co-convenor Saurav Das formally announced before Chief Justice Surya Kant that the organization had decided against holding the protest march on September 5. The Chief Justice acknowledged this constructive step and openly appreciated the decision made by the party leadership.
Official Statement from the Party
Reading out the organization's official statement in the courtroom, Saurav Das stated that as the co-convenor of CJP, he wanted to emphasize that considering the positive assurances given by the central government, the sanctity maintained by the judiciary, and the orders passed by the court, CJP deemed it appropriate to withdraw the March 5 call and expected complete adherence to the day's order. He also expressed gratitude to the court and the legal counsel representing both sides, including the Solicitor General, for their concerted efforts.
Status of FIRs Against Protesters
Alongside this major announcement regarding the march, the Supreme Court has ordered the cancellation of FIRs registered against protesting students. However, Delhi Police will maintain the FIRs against 2,873 individuals. These specific people are those against whom direct criminal cases have been registered, and legal proceedings concerning them will continue as per established protocols.
