Thursday, June 25, is shaping up to be a difficult day for lakhs of residents across Tamil Nadu. Maintenance work will leave several cities without electricity for hours, hitting cooking, office work and everyday household chores. From Chennai and Coimbatore to Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Mettur, Namakkal, Salem and Udumalaipet, supply will be interrupted. And it is not just Tamil Nadu, neighbouring Bengaluru in Karnataka and Hyderabad in Telangana will also see large pockets plunged into darkness on the same day.
The Electricity Board in Tamil Nadu will be carrying out maintenance at various substations, so power will be cut from 9 am to 4 pm on June 25, 2026. That means a full seven hours without supply in the affected areas.
Coimbatore: Where the Power Goes
In Coimbatore, the localities likely to lose supply on June 25 include:
- Kalangal, Peedampally, Pattanam, Pappampatti, Akkanayakkanpalayam
- Pattanambudur, Pappampatti Division, Kannampalayam, Nadupalayam (one zone)
- Chinna Kuili, Naikanpalayam, Pallapalayam, Irumporai, Petthikuttai
- Samparavalli, Kaundampalayam, Vaiyalipalayam, Iluppanatham, Anatasampalayam
- Akkarai Chengapalli, Vadakkalur and Mookanur
Affected Areas in Chennai
In the capital, supply could be disrupted at Thiradi Street, East Mada Street, South Mada Street, Kulakkarai Street, VGN Mahalakshmi Nagar, Thiruneermalai Main Road, Vembuliamman Temple Street, Bhajanai Temple Street, Mallima Street and Sivaraj Street.
Udumalaipet Power Cut
In Udumalaipet, the following areas are reported to be hit on June 25:
- M.N. Palayam, Banana Tree, Subbaiyagaundanputhur, Alankadu, Valanthayamaram
- Meenakshipuram, Kulathupudhur, Paryothu, Deevanshaputhur, Ganapathipalayam
- Govindapuram, Kaliyappagaundanputhur, Athupollachi Muthur, Ayyambalayam, Nallur
- Vadugapalayam, Mannur, Ramapattinam, Devambadi, Vallaiagaundanur
- Bodipalayam, Shakti Garden, Golden City, Gandhinagar, Ponnapuram
- Sangampalayam, Valavanagar, J.J. Colony and Venkatasakolani
Mettur Localities
In Mettur, the areas expected to be affected are Thevoor, Arasiramani, Ariyangadu, Ariyangadu, Peramachipalayam, Vellalapalayam, Kaikolpalayam, Odasagarai, Mylampatti, Ammapalayam, Mamarathukadu, Vatrampalayam, Chettipatti, Kullampatti and Kaniyalampatti.
Power Off in Dharmapuri
In Dharmapuri, places such as Karimangalam, Keragodahalli, Bommahalli, Kettur, Anumanthapuram, Annamalaihalli, Naganampatti, Thumbalahalli, Ettianur, Elumpichainahalli, Periyampatti, Bekarahalli, Kovilur, Kattur and Tindal could face disruptions.
Cuddalore Affected Zones
In Cuddalore, the areas that could be hit are Nellithope, Sattappet, Kilmammapet, Chattamammapet, Palapattu Atari, Poinapadi, Mangulam and Keezhorathur.
Namakkal and Salem
In Namakkal, Solasiramani and Pallakkapalayam will see cuts, while in Salem the residents of Athanurpatti, Vellalapatti, Pulithikuttai and C.N. Palayam will be affected.
Bengaluru: Areas in the Dark
Beyond Tamil Nadu, the capitals of Karnataka and Telangana are wrestling with outages on the same day. BESCOM has declared that KPTCL will carry out maintenance at multiple 66/11 kV stations and power supply infrastructure from 10 am to 4 pm on June 25, 2026.
During those hours, Honnenahalli, Rajankunte, Singanayakanahalli, Marasandra, Nelakunte and nearby villages could be impacted.
Supply will also stay off from 10 am to 4 pm under the Subramanyapura and ISRO Layout Power Station limits. The affected areas include:
- Gubbalala, Uttarahalli (part), ISRO Layout Industrial Area
- Adarsha Apartments I and II, Mantri Tranquill Apartments, Maruthi Layout
- Bharath Layout, Doddakallasandra Industrial Area, Agara, Kumaraswamy Layout
- Vittal Nagar, Yelachenahalli, Arehalli, Ittamadu, AGS Layout
- Chikkalasandra, TG Layout and Bhuvaneshwarinagar
Other localities under the same feeder include Vivekananda Colony, Pragathipura, Sarbandepalya, Prathibha Industrial Area, Supreme Leather Garments zone, Chandranagar, Kashi Nagar, Vikram Nagar, Nanjappa Layout, Bikashipura, Teachers Colony, JHBCS Layout, Bendrenagar, Eshwar Nagar, Miniyaznagar, Kanaka Layout and Kanaka Nagar.
Hyderabad: Cuts for Tree Removal
In Hyderabad, areas under the Gayatri Nagar and Allapur divisions will lose power for tree removal work, with different localities affected at different times. For example, Survey of India Colony, Road No. 34, 35, RRR Bar and Restaurant and part of Chanda Nayak Thanda under the Ayyappa Society Sub Station will face a cut from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Meanwhile, Ruchi Tiffin Center, Plot No. 450 to 490, the Ayyappa Temple Area, Chanda Nayak Thanda, the back side of Madhapur Wines and the BHEL Office areas will see supply disrupted from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
In addition, areas under the Kalyannagar Park and Durganagar feeders are expected to be without power from 9:30 am to 12 noon on Thursday, while areas under the Rama Rao Nagar and Methodist Colony feeders could be hit from 2:30 pm to 5 pm.
