Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive at Delhi University's well known Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) at 7 pm to take part in the centenary celebrations marking 100 years of the institution. The visit has generated a wave of excitement among students on campus, with the atmosphere turning distinctly festive ahead of his arrival.
A return after 13 years
For Modi, this visit carries a sense of nostalgia. He last attended an SRCC event back in 2013, at a time when he was serving as the chief minister of Gujarat, and his address on that occasion was received enthusiastically by students. SRCC is widely regarded as one of the country's finest institutions for commerce, economics and management, which is why this second visit by the Prime Minister is being seen as a major moment for the current batch of students.

Shortly before the event, Modi posted on X saying he would soon be joining the grand celebrations marking SRCC's 100 years. In the same post, he noted that the college has long been known for its academic excellence, strong institution building, and for producing leaders who have gone on to shape business, public life and society.
Part of a wider outreach to young voters
The visit is being viewed as significant within the BJP's ongoing outreach programme aimed at young people. Earlier this year, in April, Modi met SRCC's governing body members and a delegation at his official residence, and during that meeting he released a special postage stamp to mark the college's historic 100th year.
Tight security, eager students
Security on campus has been tightened ahead of the Prime Minister's arrival, and students are visibly eager to hear him speak, with large numbers already gathered at the venue. Modi is expected to take the stage within minutes to address the country's younger generation, a moment the campus has clearly been waiting for.
