The Pledge for a Drug-Free State and Its Significance
Vijayadashami symbolizes the triumph of righteousness and the destruction of evil forces in society. Drawing inspiration from this core message, the commitment has been made to rescue Punjab from the deep roots of addiction. Given its strategic location as a border state, safeguarding the future of the younger generation from illegal substances is vital for regional stability and national security. Combating this illicit trade is essential to preserve the social fabric and future prospects of the local population.
About Punjab
Punjab is a prominent geographical, cultural, and historical region situated in South Asia, encompassing parts of northwestern India and eastern Pakistan. The very name Punjab originates from two Persian words, 'panj' meaning five and 'ab' meaning water, representing the five rivers namely Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej that flow through the plains. In ancient times, the territory was recognized as Sapta Sindhu and served as the cradle of the Indus Valley Civilization, playing a foundational role in the historical evolution of the subcontinent.
