Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the Valedictory Session of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Vadodara, where he made a direct and pointed appeal to regional industries across the country: step up and become active partners in India's Viksit Bharat journey. He argued that India's transformation into a developed nation depends on its ability to turn regional economic strengths into national capabilities and to carry local innovations to a much larger scale.
What the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference Is
The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference is a flagship investment-promotion initiative of the Gujarat government, conducted through a series of sessions held across different regions of the state. Each edition brings together industry leaders, investors, and government representatives to focus on the development potential of a specific area. The results have been substantial: at the North Gujarat session, 1,212 MoUs were signed, representing an investment potential of ₹3.24 lakh crore. The South Gujarat session similarly positioned that region as a central engine of the state's economic growth.
What Rajnath Singh Said
At the Vadodara valedictory session, Rajnath Singh made a clear appeal to industrialists and business communities to look beyond local markets and take on the role of nation-builders. He stressed that the Viksit Bharat goal cannot be achieved unless local innovations are elevated to national scale and the distinct economic strengths of each region are harnessed as tools of collective national capacity-building.
Other Notable Presence
BJP national president JP Nadda was also present in Gujarat during the conference series. His participation reinforced the political importance that the ruling party places on Gujarat's economic development agenda, which the VGRC series has become a central platform for advancing.
Public Reaction
The event drew a range of responses online, with many people welcoming the government's focus on regional industry participation and the scale of investment being announced, while others pressed for clearer answers on how these commitments would translate into tangible outcomes on the ground.
