Shashi Tharoor has said he will be in Colombo, Sri Lanka, this weekend to inaugurate and address the Colombo Lit Fest, timing his visit with the release of a new translated edition of one of his books.

Writing on X, Tharoor said he would travel to Colombo over the weekend to formally open the Colombo Lit Fest and speak at the event. He confirmed that the Sinhala translation of his book Inglorious Empire would be released on the same occasion, linking the book launch directly to his appearance at the festival rather than treating it as a separate event.

The Colombo Lit Fest is a literary festival held in Sri Lanka's capital city that brings together authors, readers and publishers for discussions and events centred on books and writing. Inglorious Empire is a Tharoor book that examines Britain's colonial rule; releasing its Sinhala edition means Sinhala speaking readers in Sri Lanka will now be able to read it in their own language for the first time through this translation.
