Tharoor said his weekend in Hamburg was a busy one. On Sunday, he was scheduled to address the BSS/ZEIT-Stiftung. The German word Stiftung translates to foundation, pointing to the nature of the organisation he addressed. But before that engagement, he said he was Chief Guest at an Indian community celebration of Independence Day on August 15, an experience he described as one he thoroughly enjoyed.
The desi community's own cricket-platz
According to Tharoor, the Indian community in Hamburg, referred to as the desi community, has built its own ground to play their favourite sport, cricket, which he called a cricket-platz. It was at this very ground that the Independence Day celebration was held on August 15, with Tharoor serving as the event's Chief Guest. He also shared a glimpse of the celebration along with his post.
