Nestled near the Khajuria drain in Bhinmal town of Jalore district, the Nadi Wale Ganapati temple commands immense reverence due to its ancient history and distinct traditions. During the vibrant Ganesh festival, special ceremonies draw large throngs of devotees to the shrine, while every Wednesday transforms the temple premises into a lively fair-like atmosphere.
Ancient Legend and King KshemPenance
According to local lore connected with the shrine, back when Bhinmal was known by the name of Shrimal, King Kshem performed severe penance dedicated to Lord Vinayak at this very spot. It is believed that pleased by his deep devotion, Vinayak manifested here and freed the king from a curse. Following this divine event, the deity of Lord Ganesha was consecrated, and regular worship commenced at the site.
Unique Idol Structure Resembling Human Veins
According to Amritlal D. Prajapat, secretary of the Siddhivinayak Temple Development Committee, the temple is considered exceptionally ancient and miraculous. When the deity is adorned and decorated, the idol visibly displays formations resembling the veins of a human body. A notable aspect of the temple is that numerous government officials and employees visit to pray for career promotions. Officers from Bhinmal as well as distant regions arrive to seek blessings for their aspirations. Local belief holds that many officers attained higher positions after having their wishes fulfilled here, citing an instance where a former sub-divisional magistrate of Bhinmal visited before receiving a promotion.
A Miraculous Survival and Maintenance Work
The committee secretary also recounted an incident highlighting the divine protection associated with the temple. During painting and maintenance work, a labourer accidentally fell from the dome of the roof to the ground below, yet miraculously sustained no injuries. Such extraordinary occurrences reinforce the deep faith and beliefs in miracles among the visiting devotees.
Reconstruction and Establishment of the Committee
Refining the history of the site, temple representatives explain that after the ancient structure deteriorated over time, historical ruins remained at the location for a long period. Approximately 50 years ago, the construction of the current temple took place. To further improve management and infrastructure, the Siddhivinayak Temple Development Committee was established in the year 2007. Under the committee's supervision, the temple underwent extensive renovation, boundary wall construction, beautification of the adjacent water body known as a nadi, and plantation drives across the complex.
Festival Celebrations and Weekly Gatherings
Throughout the duration of the Ganesh festival, the temple is illuminated with dazzling decorative lights, hosting elaborate religious programs. Furthermore, a steady stream of worshippers arrives every Wednesday to offer prayers. Blending rich history, unique traditions, and steadfast devotion, the Nadi Wale Ganapati temple retains a distinctive identity among the prominent spiritual landmarks of Bhinmal.
