The Manpur police station team in Dausa district has finally apprehended an accused wanted in a 92 lakh rupees embezzlement case who had been evading arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation for nearly 40 years. At the time of the financial fraud, the accused was working as the chief marketing manager at the State Trading Corporation of India. To escape law enforcement, the accused adopted the guise of a saint, wearing yellow robes and wandering through villages around the Dausa and Karauli districts. Acting on a tip-off, the police kept him under surveillance, surrounded him, and subsequently handed him over to the CBI.
Posed as a Saint to Evade Arrest
Manpur station house officer Mangilal Meena stated that the accused Buddha Ram Meena was employed as the chief marketing manager at the State Trading Corporation of India in the year 1986. A case regarding the embezzlement of around 92 lakh rupees was registered against him. The investigation was handled by the CBI, and the accused had been absconding for nearly 40 years. To dodge the authorities, the accused frequently changed his appearance and guise over time. He lived as a saintly figure wearing yellow garments and spent his fugitive years shifting locations across the border areas of Karauli and Dausa districts.
Police Surrounded and Nabbed the Accused
According to police accounts, the accused would also travel in luxury vehicles so that no one would suspect his past criminal background. Meanwhile, law enforcement received intelligence that the accused frequently visited Kadi Kothi and nearby villages. Following this information, under the guidance of SP Piyush Dixit, a police team began monitoring the movements of the accused. When the informant notified authorities that the accused was traveling from Kadi Kothi towards Manpur, the police team set up a blockade along the route and caught him.
Native of Toda Bhim in Karauli District
The police intercepted the individual disguised as a sadhu near Manpur for questioning. After confirming his identity, authorities placed Buddha Ram Meena under arrest. Following the necessary legal procedures, the accused, who had been on the run for roughly four decades, was handed over to the CBI. The accused Buddha Ram Meena is a native of Nangal Pahari village under the Balghat police station area of Toda Bhim in Karauli district.
