Police forces in Ujjain successfully apprehended two of the primary suspects on Saturday following a brief but intense armed confrontation near Karohan village. During the attempt to escape, both of the fleeing suspects sustained gunshot injuries to their legs and were immediately shifted to the district hospital for medical treatment under tight police security. This action marks a key development in the ongoing investigation into the tragic deaths of two brothers, which had sparked massive outrage in the region. Previously, a violent clash between rival factions near the busy Neelganga Square had led to this deadly shootout, claiming the life of a prominent political leader's relative.

The coordinated operation was executed by a joint team comprising personnel from the Neelganga police station and the Cyber Cell. Acting on precise intelligence regarding the hideout of the absconding criminals, the security forces laid a trap in the designated area. Upon realizing they were surrounded, the two main suspects, identified as Sonu Pasi and Vijay Suryavanshi, refused to surrender. Instead, they launched an aggressive assault on the police team and tried to break through the cordon to make their escape. To neutralize the threat and prevent them from fleeing, the police officers opened fire in self-defense. The shots hit both Sonu Pasi and Vijay Suryavanshi in their legs, effectively ending the pursuit. The victims, Lokesh Gorkar and Jai Gorkar, were the nephews of BJP leader Dilip Rao Gorkar. The tragic killings occurred during a violent confrontation between the Pasi and Gorkar families, who have been locked in a bitter feud. According to police records, this deadly rivalry originally flared up during Holi celebrations earlier this year over a dispute involving a woman. The tension escalated over the months, culminating in the July 18 shootout. Lokesh Gorkar died on the spot due to his injuries, while his brother Jai Gorkar passed away later while receiving treatment at the hospital. The attack was highly aggressive, leaving BJP leader Dilip Rao Gorkar and his son, Tapan, among several others, seriously wounded.
