Railway police in Bikaner district of Rajasthan have achieved a major breakthrough in combating train thefts by arresting a thief named Raju, who was involved in stealing a laptop bag from a passenger aboard the Jammutawi Express at Nokha railway station. Immediately following the victim's complaint, joint teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) registered an official case and launched an extensive search operation. After reviewing footage from over 500 CCTV cameras and conducting a planned raid on a moving train, law enforcement officers successfully apprehended the suspect and recovered all stolen belongings.
CCTV Footages Help Identify the Suspect
Following the theft report at Nokha railway station, investigating officers initiated a comprehensive surveillance effort to trace the culprit. The police team reviewed video footages from more than 500 CCTV cameras strategically installed across Nokha station premises, adjacent city roadways, and along the railway tracks. After hours of continuous and painstaking monitoring, investigators successfully identified the accused as Raju. Despite being identified, Raju managed to dodge law enforcement for several days by repeatedly changing his hideouts and physical locations across the region.
Operation on a Moving Train Ends in Arrest
The case took a decisive turn when police intelligence and local informants provided specific information that Raju was traveling on the same Jammutawi Express train once again. Upon receiving the real-time update, the joint team of GRP and RPF immediately went on high alert and initiated a chase on the running train. Officers carefully coordinated their movements to corner the suspect without causing panic among passengers. The police team created a tight cordon between Lunkaransar and Bikaner railway stations, catching Raju red-handed while the train was in motion.
Stolen Goods Recovered as Accused Produced in Court
After being taken into police custody, Raju was subjected to thorough interrogation, during which he confessed to stealing the laptop bag from the passenger at Nokha railway station. Based on the information disclosed by Raju during questioning, the police team successfully recovered the entire stolen property intact. Following the recovery, the accused was formally produced before the competent court for further legal proceedings. The successful operation highlighted the key operational coordination among CID/GRP Jodhpur, RPF, and GRP Nagaur teams.
