Consumers of vehicular and piped natural gas in Jaipur are facing higher fuel expenses following a fresh rate revision. Fuel supplier Torrent Gas announced an upward adjustment in the prices of both compressed natural gas and domestic piped natural gas across the city, bringing the revised rates into force starting Tuesday midnight.
Revised Rates for Fuel and Piped Kitchen Gas
Following the latest price adjustment, CNG in Jaipur is retailing at 99.50 rupees per kilogram. Domestic consumers using piped natural gas for kitchen needs will now pay 53.50 rupees for PNG supplies. The revised rates became operational across retail stations and piped distribution networks at 12 midnight on Tuesday.
Trend of Repeated Revisions Across Recent Months
The current adjustment follows a sequence of price hikes recorded in the city over recent months. In May, Torrent revised CNG rates upward by 1.59 rupees per kilogram, shortly after a 2 rupee increase in piped cooking gas rates earlier that month. Prior to that, in April, the supplier raised CNG rates by 2.50 rupees per kilogram amid supply concerns linked to tensions in West Asia.
Implications for Transportation and Household Budgets
Rising natural gas prices directly impact daily commuters, commercial fleet operators, and households across Jaipur. Local vehicle owners were already paying around 13 rupees per kilogram more for CNG compared to rates prevailing in Delhi. Higher prices across petrol, diesel, LPG, and CNG have also intensified demands from auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers to revise passenger fares, while pricier PNG adds to domestic utility bills.
