A legal battle has erupted over the administration of the Sirohi District Olympic Association in Rajasthan, following claims that fresh leadership elections were conducted in direct defiance of a state judicial injunction. Current president Jitendra Singh Chauhan has raised strong objections after reports surfaced regarding an unapproved electoral exercise and the subsequent formation of a new managing committee. According to Chauhan, the entire proceeding disregards an ongoing matter before the judiciary, setting up a sharp confrontation over sports governance in the district.
Court Stay In Force Amid Sub-Judice Dispute
The origin of the controversy stems from litigation registered as Civil Writ Petition No. 19727/2025, titled Jitendra Singh Chauhan vs Rajasthan State Olympic Association, which remains active before the Rajasthan High Court. During earlier proceedings, the court heard arguments from both contesting sides before issuing an explicit stay order on the association's affairs. Chauhan emphasized that this judicial stay remains in full effect, restricting any structural or administrative changes until the court renders a final decision. Despite these legal boundaries, activities related to fresh elections proceeded in Sirohi.
Unlawful Ad-Hoc Committee and Electoral Process Alleged
Detailing the procedural lapses, Chauhan alleged that Surendra Gurjar, the General Secretary of the Rajasthan State Olympic Association, acted beyond his authority by setting up an ad-hoc body for the Sirohi District Olympic Association. As part of this setup, Bhik Singh Deora was named convenor. Chauhan stated that Deora subsequently assumed the position of election officer, unilaterally prepared and issued a voter list, and published an official voting timetable. This sequence of actions paved the way for conducting the disputed balloting on 10 August 2026.
New Committee Names Surface on Social Media
The dispute intensified significantly after local newspaper reports and celebratory graphics circulated across digital platforms following the 10 August 2026 exercise. Social media announcements identified a newly declared panel of office bearers, naming Suresh Kothari as Chairman, Payal Parasrampuria as Chief Patron, and Sagarmal Agrawal as Patron. Furthermore, the posts declared Bhik Singh Deora as President, Hardev Arya as General Secretary, and Mahendra Singh Umat as Treasurer. Chauhan asserted that broadcasting these appointments while the judicial stay order is active constitutes a severe breach of court authority.
Awaiting High Court Directions and Legal Outcomes
Characterizing the conduct of elections as direct contempt of court, Chauhan has demanded formal legal proceedings against those involved in organizing the event. Meanwhile, representatives from the faction that conducted the elections have not issued any public clarification or formal response regarding the allegations. Consequently, the resolution of the conflict rests on the upcoming directives of the Rajasthan High Court. Observers and local sports stakeholders are closely monitoring how the bench will evaluate the validity of the 10 August voting process and address the potential violation of its stay order.
