Australia topped the medal standings with a grand total of 171 medals, including 70 Gold, 45 Silver, and 56 Bronze. England finished second with 110 medals (29 Gold), while Canada stood third with 62 medals (19 Gold). India finished fourth with 39 medals (13 Gold, 17 Silver, 9 Bronze), followed by Scotland in fifth place with 39 medals (13 Gold, 9 Silver, 17 Bronze). India's fourth-place finish is particularly noteworthy as traditional medal-yielding sports such as wrestling, badminton, and hockey were not part of the sports program in this edition of the Commonwealth Games.
Historic Milestones in Boxing and Judo
Boxing delivered India's largest discipline haul with 10 medals, including a record 7 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals. In judo, Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh created history by becoming the first Indian judokas to win Gold medals at the Commonwealth Games. Yamini Mourya earned a Silver medal and Unnati Sharma captured a Bronze medal, bringing India's judo tally to a record 4 medals.
Track and Field Performance
In men's javelin throw, Neeraj Chopra won the Silver medal while teammate Yashvir Singh bagged the Bronze medal. Distance runner Gulveer Singh made history by claiming Bronze in the 5000m race, becoming the first Indian track and field athlete to win two medals at a single edition of the Commonwealth Games, having previously won Silver in the 10,000m race. Praveen Chithravel took Silver in the men's triple jump, while Selva Prabhu Thirumaran claimed Bronze in the same event. M Sreeshankar earned Silver in men's long jump, Sarvesh Kushare claimed Silver in men's high jump, and Tejaswin Shankar won Bronze in men's decathlon. Rishikanta Singh (men's 60kg), Raja Muthupandi (men's 65kg), Gyaneshwari Yadav (women's 53kg), Valluri Ajaya Babu (men's 79kg), Harjinder Kaur (women's 69kg), and Lovepreet Singh (men's +110kg) each won Silver medals, while Bindyarani Devi claimed Bronze in the women's 58kg event. Indian para-athletes also achieved landmark success. Dilip Mahadu Gavit won Gold in the men's 100m T47 event, with Mohammad Basil taking Silver in the same race.
