A 25-year-old athlete from Mexico has rewritten the record books in the world of strength sports. Raul Flores lifted 511kg in the deadlift at the World Deadlift Championship held at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, setting a new world record and stunning the strongman community.
The old record fell by just one kilogram
The previous deadlift world record belonged to Hafthor Bjornsson, who had lifted 510kg at the 2025 World Deadlift Championship. Flores edged past that mark by a slender one-kilogram margin, lifting 511kg to claim the title of the strongest deadlifter on the planet.
Signs of the record were visible in training
Flores had been climbing steadily through the deadlift rankings in recent times. While training for the World Deadlift Championship, he managed to lift 504kg, a performance that suggested he could pull off something extraordinary at the main event. He went on to do exactly that when it mattered most.
Now regarded as the world's strongest man
Lifting 511kg is not just a new record, it is a fresh benchmark for what the human body can achieve. Flores's feat has sent shockwaves through the strongman and deadlift community, and he is now being hailed as the strongest man in the world.
