The final result of the UP Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment 2025 has turned the spotlight on a family in Lavkushnagar town of Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh. Twenty-five-year-old Shyam Mani Dixit from this town has cleared the sub-inspector exam, even though his father always hoped his son would pick up a chalk and duster instead of a police uniform.
From a village school to university
Shyam Mani began his education at a government school in Gudhaura village, where he studied up to class 8. He then moved to a government school in Lavkushnagar for his class 12, before enrolling at Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University in Chhatarpur for his graduation. Since his father was a teacher himself, Shyam Mani grew up wanting to follow the same path, and he went on to complete a B.Ed degree from Lavkushnagar with that goal in mind.
A change of plan after his brother's path
After finishing his B.Ed, Shyam Mani moved to Delhi with his elder brother and began preparing for competitive exams while staying there. Around this time, his brother became a teacher, and after his brother's marriage, his sister-in-law turned out to be a teacher as well. With teaching already well represented in the family, Shyam Mani felt he should try something different, and that is when he decided to attempt the police recruitment exams. He says his real priority was never the police force specifically, but simply landing any government job.
An injury, a missed race, and finally a selection
Shyam Mani's first attempt was the MP Police Constable exam, where he cleared the written test but could not appear for the physical test after suffering an injury. He then took the UP Police Constable exam, cleared its written round too, but was eliminated during the running test. Despite these two setbacks, he did not give up, and he was eventually selected as a Sub-Inspector in the UP Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment.
His father doesn't like the police job, but trusts his son fully
Ramnarayan Dixit, Shyam Mani's father, says he has spent his entire career as a teacher working with simplicity and honesty, which is why he always wanted his son to take up teaching as well. He is happy that his son has become a sub-inspector, but admits that he personally does not like the police job. He says he is not opposed to his son's career choice and is confident that the upbringing he gave his son will ensure he performs his duties with complete honesty. He also mentioned that his son may study further and take up something else in the future.
Ramnarayan Dixit further reveals that Shyam Mani had once wanted to study law, but he refused to allow it. In his own words, "A lawyer's earnings come from lies and dishonesty, I never liked that." That is why he stopped his son from pursuing a law degree and always wanted him to become a teacher instead.
Grandfather credits Hanuman ji's blessings
Shyam Mani's grandfather, Ram Avtar Dixit, is overjoyed at the news. He says no one in the family has ever held a job in the police before, making his grandson's selection as sub-inspector a matter of pride for the entire household. He credits the achievement to the blessings of Hanuman ji from Gudhaura village, saying, "All this is by the grace of Hanuman ji of Gudhaura."
