Samsung has officially introduced its new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A27 5G, for global markets including India. Serving as the successor to the previous Galaxy A26 5G, this device brings several significant upgrades to the table. The most notable highlight is the company's commitment to long-term usability, pledging 6 years of both Android OS and security updates. While the Indian market launch is scheduled for July 3, the company has not yet disclosed the specific retail price for the region.
Display and Software Performance
The Galaxy A27 5G features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display. With a 120Hz refresh rate, the screen ensures a fluid experience for gaming, streaming content, and scrolling through social media feeds. The device runs on One UI 8.5 based on Android 16. Because of the generous 6-year software and security update promise, the phone is positioned as a viable option for users looking to keep their device for many years.
Hardware and Storage
Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, built on a 4nm architecture. To handle multitasking, it comes with up to 8GB of RAM. The internal storage capacity is 256GB, which can be further expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card for users needing extra space for media and documents.
Imaging and Battery
The Galaxy A27 5G houses a triple rear camera setup. The primary sensor is a 50MP unit equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for steady shots. It is complemented by a 5MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies and video calls, the phone includes a 12MP front-facing camera. Powering these features is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging.
Extra Features and Availability
For security, the phone is integrated with Samsung Knox Vault. It is also rated IP64, offering protection against dust and minor water splashes. The device includes several AI-powered features such as Circle to Search, Object Eraser, and Voice Transcription, along with support for AI assistants like Google Gemini, Perplexity, and Bixby. In the United States, the phone carries a starting price of $349.99, approximately ₹30,000. In India, it will be available in black, blue, light green, and light pink color variants starting July 3.
