The road connecting Ranchi to Khunti turns into one of Jharkhand's most popular monsoon getaways, drawing long drive enthusiasts and travellers heading to Panchghagh waterfall in large numbers. Khunti district sits amid dense forests, which is why the stretch connecting it to Ranchi has been built into a smooth, scenic highway. Thick forest cover, tall hills and lush natural views line the route throughout the journey, making it one of the finest long drive stretches in the state.
A Highway Framed by Dense Forest
The moment travellers enter this road, a strikingly beautiful stretch welcomes them. The dense forest cover on either side keeps the air noticeably cool, and the weather along the entire route stays pleasant and refreshing. This is one of the biggest reasons the route keeps pulling visitors back.
Deer, Bears and a Biodiversity Park Along the Way
Moving further down the road, the first stop is Hiran Park, where visitors can spot ponds, waterfalls, several species of deer and even bears up close. The spot is especially popular with children. The park has a canteen and cafeteria inside, while a long row of dhabas lines the road outside, serving everything from vegetarian to non-vegetarian food in authentic local style. The route also has a Biodiversity Park, offering another opportunity to observe wild animals at close range.
Panchghagh Waterfall Feels Like a Natural Swimming Pool
A little ahead of Hiran Park lies the path to Panchghagh waterfall. The waterfall has formed naturally in a way that makes it easy to bathe in, and at first glance it resembles a swimming pool, which means there is no risk of drowning here. People travel from as far as 100 kilometres away just to bathe in this natural swimming pool tucked inside dense forest.
Angrabari Shiv Temple, or Amreshwar Dham, Where Wishes Are Believed to Come True
Further along the route stands the Angrabari Shiv Temple, also known as Amreshwar Dham. According to belief, a Shivling appeared on its own under a banyan tree here, and every wish made at the temple is said to be fulfilled. The temple complex also has a shrine dedicated to Devi Maa, and devotees travel from as far as 200 kilometres away to seek blessings. Because of this, nearly every devotee passing along this route makes it a point to stop for darshan.
