Bharti Singh, fondly called television's Comedy Queen, has built a name for herself as a stand-up comedian, actress and TV host. Born on July 3, 1984, into a modest Punjabi family in Amritsar, her life took a difficult turn very early on.
Losing her father at the age of two
Bharti has two older siblings. When she was just 2 years old, her father passed away, leaving the family to cope with a huge loss at a very young stage of her life. Despite this setback, she went on to complete her graduation in Punjab and kept moving forward.
The 2008 breakthrough
Bharti Singh's career took off in 2008 when she appeared as a contestant on Star One's The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Her comic timing won widespread appreciation on the show, and she finished as the second runner-up that season, a result that gave her comedy career its first real recognition.
Becoming a household name
From there, Bharti went on to host and perform across a string of comedy and reality shows, including The Kapil Sharma Show, Comedy Nights Bachao, Laughter Chefs, Comedy Circus, Khatra Khatra Khatra, Bittu Bak-Bak, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Hunarbaaz and Khatron Ke Khiladi. Characters she played, such as Bittu and Lalli, are still remembered fondly, and it was through these roles that she became a familiar face in households across the country.
Laughter Chefs season 3 wraps up
On June 30, the third season of her popular show Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment came to an end. The show aired on Colors TV, with Bharti Singh as host and celebrity chef Harpal Singh Sokhi serving as judge. On the show, well known faces from television and social media took up cooking challenges amid plenty of laughter and banter.
Marriage and family life
Bharti Singh married her long-time boyfriend, television writer and host Harsh Limbachiyaa, on December 3, 2017. The couple has two sons, Laksh Limbachiyaa, nicknamed Gola, and Yashvir Limbachiyaa, nicknamed Kaju. Bharti currently lives in Mumbai with her family.
